BIRMINGHAM V SWANSEA 02.04.21

This game has to be the beginning of an insane run of form if we are to stay in this automatic promotion fight. Most of our players have finally had the rest that they’ve needed and must be prepared to perform consistently for the next month which will practically see out the EFL Championship season.

Fair to say that our performances were fairly horrendous before the international break with the last game being a defeat vs Cardiff which was a big blow. They scored early and let us absolutely dominate them however we just could not find the net. Our best chance being an André Ayew header against the post.

Even though it was a Derby loss, we showed true moments of quality and it baffles me that we didn’t leave the ground with at least a point. The positives were another impressive performance from Morgan Whittaker who surprisingly started over Jamal Lowe after 1 decent performance in the second half against Bournemouth but the youngster showed that he isn’t afraid to take a shot and is definitely capable of being a decent player at the club.

We currently sit 3rd, 6 points off Watford but with a game in hand. We have to look behind us as well because Brentford also have a game in hand and are only 1 point behind the Swans. If we are to extend our gap to Brentford, it could go down to the final game of the campaign where we play Watford away from home to decide which of the two sides go up automatically and who must battle in the playoffs.

I’m feeling fairly confident against Birmingham and I think that we will win 3-1 but if we are to lose this match, I believe that our push for automatic promotion is over.....
