Pompey face 21st placed Swindon Town on Tuesday and with promotion hopes still very much alive, this game really is a must win for the Blues. The Robins have lost 17 games this season already, and Pompey have a good record against the lesser sides in the division this season.
Pompey were able to pull back a point late on against Plymouth of Saturday, Ronan Curtis coming on to score a goal in the 86th minute, and then James Bolton firing in a header a minute later to fight back from being 0-2 down. James Bolton had been completely frozen out by Jackett this season, but was forced to come in the start as a makeshift centre back following on from Jack Whatmough's suspension and Rasmus Nicholaisen being unavailable due to his daughters birth. However despite his lack of game time, Bolton came in and put in a real shift and has looked excellent these last two game, and is expected to keep his place against Swindon.
Notable team news for Pompey is that the inform Michael Jacobs came off with an injury against Argyle after feeling his hamstring and is expected to miss out against the Robins. Overall, this game is a must win for Pompey, I’ve already predicted a 4-1 Pompey win, expecting Brett Pitman to bag a goal on his Fratton return after he was released by Pompey last season, would be typical for him especially since he was mistreated by Jackett in his final season. For Pompey, I’m predicting a Ronan Curtis brace, a thumping Sean Raggett header, and a John Marquis goal to set him off on another goal scoring run.
