MAN CITY V MAN UTD 07.3.21
The stage is set for the Manchester Derby on Sunday at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium. Almost a year on from the last game with fans which was also a Manchester Derby, United travel across town to clash with their noisy neighbours. This is the 175th meeting between the two Manchester sides.
The two teams have a 14 point gap despite Manchester United being a place below the current leaders. A win for the reds would sadly be more beneficial for top four hopes than those of catching the Citizens. United have been cagey to say the least in recent weeks and while the rear guard have been keeping out the goals the normally reliant firepower of the forwards has stalled somewhat. The return of Cavani is a positive but his performance against Palace midweek shows he needs game time to get back up to speed after his absence.
French international Paul Pogba is still sidelined by injury and David de Gea is on leave with his family in Spain. Hendo will be back between the sticks again and with Eric Bailly playing midweek this will no doubt signal the return of the Iceman, Victor Lindelöf in defence. Hopefully Anthony Martial will be back from his knee injury and the reds can return to form with their goal scoring of earlier in the season. City and United have scored the most goals this season so far, 56 and 53 respectively. So with all that said, it will probably be a repeat of the nil nil draw from Old Trafford .
To be honest I am not feeling too confident for this fixture considering City’s record against the big six compared to Manchester United’s. Still I always have hope for my mighty red army! Sadly, my predictions for this game are either a 0-0 draw or maybe a 1-0 win for City. I hope it will be a good game.
Blues vs Reds! Pep vs Ole! Manchester City vs Manchester United!
Come on United!
Derby Day.
The two teams from Manchester face off for their last league meeting of the season.
With Manchester City on a 21-game winning streak, Ole’s boys make a difficult trip across town to the Etihad, where they will try to put a dent in their rival’s ambitions. However, any positive result for United will be one that they should be proud of.
After brushing aside top clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea aside, City are playing their best football at the moment, and certainly look unstoppable. City will have a fully fit squad at Pep’s disposal, while Man U have a few uncertainties in a few of their key players.
I think this will be another formality for City, but Ole has proven to give Pep a bit of a challenge in the past, so City will have to continue at the high standards they’ve been playing at. Of course, in the end of the day, these are two world class teams and any result will be well earned.
Prediction: Man City 3-1 Man U
