MAN UTD v NEWCASTLE 21.02.21
Manchester United face Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Sunday at 19:00 GMT.
Following Thursday’s 4-0 triumph against La Liga highflyers, Real Sociedad, Man United will be hoping to match that performance and seal a much needed three points. United have been in poor form in the Premier League having only picked up 6 of the last 15 available points despite being 2nd in the league. Newcastle are on the brink of the relegation zone in 17th place. Newcastle also have picked up 6 points from the last available 15. This is a must win game for Manchester United to get their confidence up and season back on track. Our away form has been fantastic this season but the same can’t be said for the home results.
Last time these teams met, Man United came out on top with a 4-1 thrashing at St James Park. Newcastle netted first with an awkward Luke Shaw own goal, however Harry Maguire equalised before it became goals galore for the Red Devil’s in the final 10 minutes. Although he conceded 4, Karl Darlow was a standout performer in the Newcastle side making 10 saves. He also is the only goalkeeper to save a Bruno Fernandes penalty this season. He had continued to show his class throughout the season being one of the most inform keepers in the league.
Newcastle boss, Steve Bruce, was at Manchester United from 1987-1996 making 309 appearances, scoring 19 goals and captaining the side to many trophies. Former teammates, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Steve Bruce will come head-to-head on Sunday. Steve Bruce will be hoping for a memorable reunion with Old Trafford.
The constant football across all competitions is now starting to take it’s toll at Old Trafford. Pogba, who was in such great form is missing again and there are doubts over McTominay after the Europa league tie. There are hopes that Cavani and van de Beek might be fit again after sitting out the trip to Italy.
Given the faltering form of both teams makes this a tough one to predict as it all depends on which Manchester United you get. The performance in Turin in midweek will hopefully be the spring-board to propel United to a win, and I’m predicting a 2-0 home win for the red devils.
It’s Matchday again and today we face Man U away at Old Trafford. This will be a tough game because it’s Manchester United and we need points desperately as Fulham won last night to Sheffield United 1-0 which puts them 3 points behind us.
I’m not so confident on this one as it’s Man U we are playing and not an easier team and we are still recovering from a 2-0 loss to Chelsea on Monday. I would love to see Saint-Maximin and Willock play because they seem like they have a decent linkup and they could cause a few problems for Man U.
Some players are missing for us including a massive injury blow to Fabian schar who’s out for the rest of the season and Wilson who is also out for about another 6 weeks or so.
Wilson will be the most crucial one we are missing as he’s a huge key player for us and obviously our top scorer this season. Last time Newcastle and Man U played at St James Park we got destroyed 4-1 and I’m expecting them to win again so I’m saying 3-0 to Man U tomorrow but still HWTL⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️
